Geriatric Cardiology

Geriatric cardiology focuses on the older patient — increasingly the typical cardiology patient. Sessions cover frailty assessment, polypharmacy and deprescribing, dementia and cognitive impact of cardiovascular disease, anticoagulation in the elderly, heart failure and HFpEF in older adults, valvular disease decision-making, and end-of-life and palliative cardiology. Discussion addresses inclusion of older adults in clinical trials, shared decision-making, and integrating geriatric expertise into the cardiology team.
